Dog Balls with Handles: Check the Size Before You Buy

Shopping for a dog ball with handles or grab tabs? Start with the measurements. The ball's diameter and its total span with tabs are different figures.

Ball diameter versus overall span

The Mad Pet dog football is approximately 15 cm across the inflatable ball, or 18.5 cm including the nylon grab tabs. It is one ball, not a choice between two sizes.

What the tabs are for

The tabs are part of a ball intended for supervised fetch and shared play. They do not turn an inflatable ball into a heavy-duty tug or chew toy; biting can puncture it.

A quick size checklist

• Compare the ball diameter with toys your dog already enjoys carrying.
• Check whether a listed measurement includes tabs or handles.
• Match the toy to the way you plan to play, not just a “large dog” label.
